JUNIOR SECTION 2016
The club operate a very active Junior section and hence we would welcome and encourage young people to visit the club and understand what the game of golf is all about.
Our Junior Liaison Officer is TBC
The club has a large practice field and allows juniors some as young as seven to participate in coaching on some weekends and mid week for up to 12 weeks.
The club has adopted the EGU/ELGA equity policy and as a result of hard work by the JLO and helpers the club obtained the Junior Golf Mark Award in 2003 for its commitment to the development of junior grass root golf.
Coaching and Playing
An organised regime of coaching for boys and girls of all standards , arranged by the junior committee and overseen by our PGA club professionals takes place by between April and August.
During the summer months the Junior Section holds club competitions usually on Saturday. As the Club is affiliated to the Durham County Junior Golfing Society we have a team entered to play in the County Regional League.
Juniors also have opportunities to enter local open events at very modest entry fees. As all juniors are required to obtain a handicap to enter competitive competitions, support is given through the coaching regime for all boys and girls to achieve their handicap certificates.
There is a progressive fee for juniors up to twenty one years of age. There is automatic entry from juniors to adult member. Juniors have access to the club and on joining are given information regarding rules and regulations of the club at a new members meeting.
Child Protection and Duty of Care
Having adopted the EGU/ELGA equity policy, the club keeps up to date records of children ensuring juniors are cared for properly whilst under their supervision
